OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME
The goal of WHO’s Health Emergencies Programme (The Programme) is to increase Member States’ capacity to manage health emergency risks and, in the event that national resources are exhausted, to direct and coordinate the global health response to outbreak containment and to effectively provide aid and recovery to impacted populations. Building a system of cooperative intelligence that enables better decisions to avoid and manage dangers to public health is the responsibility of the Health Emergency Intelligence and Surveillance Systems division (WSE). Its objective is to empower, bolster, and assist nations, regional, and international players in preventing and managing risks and threats to public health through group problem-solving and decision-making for immediate action and long-term policy, guided by better data and analytics. The WHO has opened a new office in Berlin called the WHO Hub for Pandemic and Epidemic Intelligence. It collaborates with partners to make public health-related information generation possible, providing timely actionable insights and enhancing decision-making to anticipate, avert, and address public health concerns. By fostering collaboration across numerous professional disciplines, sectors, and projects, and by empowering decision-makers, public health experts, and civil society to make informed public health decisions, it also strives to lessen fragmentation and inefficiency.

Find sources of material that can be used for analysis, as well as freely accessible tools or analytic codes, that are pertinent to issues relating to public health emergencies, including but not limited to:
Verifying sources and collecting the essential information from authors, experts, and permission to reuse includes [a] validating technical content and accuracy; [b] assuring the appropriateness of suggested tools and analysis, cultural sensitivity, and data policy; and [c] all of the aforementioned.
Perform analysis and create pipelines for information products, such as briefings, activity reports, presentations, etc., to transmit technical information to technical partners, paying special attention to data about outbreaks, emergency response, and interventions.
Participate actively and work together to develop and implement cutting-edge analysis-sharing and dissemination tactics within a predetermined framework, with specific goals and objectives.
To promote transparent development and sharing of analysis and insights, take part in the design of new tools and adjust data and analysis in existing tools.
In order to promote and foster a culture of multi-disciplinary and cross-cutting approaches within The Programme, WHO, and with key partners, maintain communication with staff at all levels of The Programme, WHO HQ, Regional and Country Offices, as well as countries and partners. Perform additional related tasks as assigned, including taking over for others when necessary and providing backup support.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Essential: First university degree in epidemiology, demography, statistics, health sciences, or a related discipline that includes quantitative methods.
Desirable: Postgraduate diploma in any of the above areas.
Experience
At least two years’ professional work experience in data analysis or data visualization. Strong skills in coding, data management, data analysis and data visualization.
Skills
a demonstrated capacity to do data visualisations and analyses utilising quantitative methods, including modelling in the context of newly or reemerging diseases in a multidisciplinary and cross-cutting environment. excellent data management and organisational abilities, as well as the capacity to multitask and deliver correct findings under time constraints.
