Description

Applications are being accepted for a full-time Probationary (Tenure-track) job in Pharmacokinetics at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor (Position #33105) at the Rady Faculty of Health Sciences (RFHS), University of Manitoba, Canada. The anticipated appointment date is June 1, 2023, or at a later time that can be worked out. In accordance with credentials and experience, the salary and rank will be determined.

Responsibilities

On the university’s Bannatyne Campus, the College of Pharmacy is housed in the 90,000 square foot, state-of-the-art Apotex Centre. Modern imaging infrastructure (such as MR, whole animal fluorescence, and 2-photon), small animal core facilities (such as CT, PET-MRI), lentiviral application support, expertise in transgenic mice (such as CRISPR-Cas9 editing), proteomic/metabolomic/epigenetic approaches, and related bioinformatics are all part of the RFHS’ core facilities. The Pharmaceutical Analysis Lab (P.A.L.) is located at the College of Pharmacy and has Shimadzu and Waters HPLCs, single- and triple-quadrupole mass spectrometers, Real-Time PCR, a clinical chemistry analyzer, and an AKTA FPLC.

Excellence in pharmacy teaching and research has a long tradition at the College of Pharmacy. It offers chances for interprofessional and interdisciplinary collaboration in health sciences research and teaching and is a component of the RFHS at the University of Manitoba. The university provides a wide range of undergraduate and graduate programmes including public health, professional programmes, and fundamental biomedical sciences. This is a unique chance for a competent person to contribute to the RFHS’s continuous success and to establish a new standard for interdisciplinary research and cooperation in a team with complementary and diverse talents.

The Winnipeg Region Health Authority (WRHA), one of Canada’s largest and most diversified health areas, which serves the city of Winnipeg and the outlying towns, is close to the campus and has numerous tertiary teaching hospitals that provide outstanding library facilities for the health sciences. WRHA collaborates closely with the University of Manitoba to support several institutes and research canters.

Qualifications

A Ph.D. in Pharmacokinetics, Biopharmaceutics, or a closely related area of Pharmaceutical Sciences is required of applicants, ideally with postdoctoral or fellowship work. The chosen applicant will be required to establish and sustain an independent research programme supported by outside funding, such as the Canadian Tri-Agencies (CIHR, NSERC, SSHRC). The person will be required to work at the University of Manitoba, Rady Faculty of Health Sciences, College of Pharmacy, and teach in undergraduate and graduate programmes.
