An Assistant Lecturer in Computing is needed by the School of Enterprise Computing and Digital Transformation at the TU Dublin Tallaght Campus. Subject to the rules of the Technological Universities Act of 2018 and national terms and conditions, this position is being provided on a permanent, full-time, and pensionable basis. You will work with a talented, forward-thinking team as an assistant lecturer who is committed to carrying out the school’s goal in respect to enterprise computing, digital transformation, and information systems. The School draws on a solid history of offering a very successful portfolio of programmes in the areas of Enterprise Computing, Information Systems, and Digital Transformation while being a new school with a new objective. Through research, programme delivery, and industry involvement, the School wants to broaden its influence both domestically and beyond.
Duties
Assistant Lecturer Jobs in Ireland
The new hire will actively participate in the academic direction of the courses, which includes academic administration, academic evaluation, and academic research. The appointment shall do the tasks that management assigns, including but not limited to
- Up to 630 hours a year, day or night, teaching any assigned classes that the university’s management deems appropriate, including, as necessary, post-graduate student supervision. There will be a standard of 18 class contact hours each week, however this can be changed to 16 to 20 hours with the teacher’s approval. When a lecturer is supervising a tutor or demonstrator, teaching hours will be cut by one hour for every three hours of supervised demonstrations or tutorials;
- Carrying out assessment, monitoring and evaluation of examinations work, and providing an
- Academic and consultative support to students in their learning activities;
- Providing academic input on existing and new courses and course development;
- Engaging in research, consultancy and development work as appropriate;
- Participating in committees appropriate to courses and meetings convened by management;
- Maintaining appropriate records and making available information as required by management;
- Engaging in promotion including student recruitment as appropriate;
Experience Assistant Lecturer
A primary degree with honours in a relevant field followed by three years of related experience (Essential)
- At least three years of relevant experience after earning the aforementioned degree.(Essential)
- Teaching expertise, including familiarity with and use of cutting-edge instructional techniques
- A history of individual contributions to research, development, and invention. (Desirable)
- Possessing experience delivering third-level education utilising contemporary technology ways (desirable).
- Programme development experience (desirable)
